A MESSAGE FROM BISHOP LEAH GREGORY
MIDTEXAS CONFERENCE SUPERINTENDENT
Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
As Jesus was being glorified and lifted into heaven, he gave this command, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) In his final words to his disciples, Jesus is saying, be my witness to the whole world. When you think you know where your mission field is, think bigger!
The MidTexas Annual Conference has the privilege of bearing witness to the Good News of the Messiah to our geographic boundaries: to the state of Texas, to the United States, to Bulgaria, Costa Rica, and Rwanda, and to the entire world. We are all witnesses to the life-transforming power of Jesus Christ, and we do not do it on our own but through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The theme of this year’s Awakening Conference is “Can I (Christ) get a Witness.” As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are not called to be fans, sitting on the sidelines. We are called to witness to the Good News. While the apostles certainly led the church, the gospel was largely advanced by the words and deeds of unordained and uneducated people… informal missionaries. The only difference between a believer sitting in his or her American home and a foreign missionary on the field is location, not identity. Every Christian is a missionary – a witness. Recapturing lay witness is a practice the Global Methodist Church, and especially MidTexas, is seeking to boldly recover.
The Awakening Conference will be a time of learning how to faithfully witness to God’s goodness and perfect love. We welcome leaders in our movement who are making evangelistic witnessing and discipleship primary to our life together. Rev. Matt Reynolds and Rev. Daniel Drewski will challenge, equip, and inspire you to be a faithful witness of Christ.
Witnessing doesn’t mean our lives are perfect. In fact, the Church Fathers said the way of the Kingdom of God is suffering before glory. In light of our sufferings and trials, witnessing is being able to still profess Jesus as Lord, Way Maker, and Savior.
I look forward to worshiping with you. Bishop Levingston will be with us and he can preach 'the paint off of walls.' I look forward to gathering with the family that is the MidTexas Conference.
See you on February 20th. Come ready to have your hearts AWAKENED!

MidTexas Annual Conference Journal 2025
Greetings MidTexas,
I am pleased to share that the Conference Journal of the MidTexas Annual Conference is now available for you to review. In just two short weeks we will gather at Coker Methodist Church in San Antonio to worship and do the work of awakening!
As you look through these pages, you will see the many ways that Christ is stirring and moving his people forward in MidTexas. You will also likely see corrections that must be made, as the work of perfecting a Conference Journal is never over. As you find these corrections, please email them to benhuebner@midtexasgmc.org.
