Part-Time Church Administrator - Bulverde Methodist Church

First Methodist Church of Waco This position is generally 15-20 hours a week, with the primary responsibility being to lead the contemporary service congregation in worship through music. This person will always act in a manner that reflects their faith in Christ and adheres to the Bulverde Methodist Church (BMC) personnel policies. Hours are primarily Sunday morning services and Thursday evening rehearsals, but could also involve other needs such as funerals, weddings, special services and weekly worship planning and staff meetings. The Contemporary Worship Leader should have an appreciation for all types of music and be comfortable both as a solo worship leader and as the leader of a larger group of musicians and singers. Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1) Lead and encourage the congregation in contemporary worship through music with authenticity and joy. 2) Work with the pastoral staff to select songs that will provide meaningful worship and reinforce the message communicated each week. 3) Develop an understanding of all technical aspects of the worship service - lighting, sound, projection, live-streaming, etc. and be prepared to assist in all. 4) Respectfully collaborate with members of the tech team to ensure the worship services flow smoothly. 5) Lead weekly rehearsals of the praise band. Communicate effectively with all musicians and use the rehearsal time effectively to ensure the group is prepared for all performances. 6) Recruit and encourage all members of the congregation who would like to be part of the music/worship team. 7) Encourage collaboration with the Sanctuary Choir Director and the work of the sanctuary music team. 8) Be available to help on occasion with the sanctuary service sharing talent or stepping in to lead music in case of an emergency. 9) Be willing to assist with any task necessary in the life of the church. The successful applicant will work in coordination with our pastor to plan music for Sundays, occasional special services (i.e. Christmas Eve), and also coordinate efforts of volunteer musicians and singers.
