MidTexas Brothers and Sisters,
Advent prayers for each of your congregations as you journey to the stable and experience the light of Christ anew. We will be having Christmas Eve worship before you know it. As your congregation takes its Christmas Eve/Year-End offering, I would like to make you aware of a need in the Global Methodist Church.
A Suggestion for Your CongregationIf your church does not have any specific plans for Christmas Eve and would like some direction, I want to strongly encourage you to consider taking up an offering for what is being called “Miracle in the Desert.” The Global Methodist Church has planted congregations in the Middle East, and our church in Qatar has a great opportunity to build worship, small groups, and office space that can be used not just for that local congregation, but for our entire Middle Eastern ministries.
The Greatest NeedThrough the power of the Holy Spirit, this congregation in Qatar has already outgrown one facility they were renting and is bursting at the seams of their next rented facility. The harvest in Qatar is plenty, and we have effective missionaries on the ground who are offering the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is transforming hearts and lives. Having a space that is permanent will allow them to secure a worship space that will not only allow one church to continue to grow, but will be a launch pad for broader missions and ministries across the entire Middle East.
How Your Congregation Can HelpFirst, this is a voluntary offering. If your congregation does a Christmas Eve offering and doesn't already have a plan for the giving, I would like to invite you to consider taking an offering for ‘A Miracle in the Desert.” You can learn more about the project in the brochure linked below and the video above. The Brochure can be found using the link below for the month of December.
Your gifts may be sent to the conference office through the giving portal using
this link, by texting "GIVEMIDTEX MITD" to 73256 using your mobile device, or by mail to the office in San Angelo (PO Box 5015, San Angelo, TX 76902). Please mark “Miracle in the Desert.”
A Prayer for YouHowever your congregation chooses to celebrate the coming of Christ this year with their offerings, I pray God uses you in amazing ways to make disciples of Jesus Christ and to spread scriptural holiness across the globe. May you have a truly joy-filled Advent and a Merry Christmas!
Storm the Gates,
Leah Hidde-Gregory
