On November 1st, 2022, the Mid-Texas Provisional Annual Conference launched with twenty-two Covenant Areas.  We began with 72 congregations spread throughout the conference, and in the last 19 months, we have grown to 230 congregations.  As a result, some of our Covenant Areas have grown disproportionately, creating a need for realignment.
Because our presiding elders are volunteers who serve full-time appointments, it is important that we keep our Covenant Areas to around 10 churches to avoid an overburdening workload.  The Mid-Texas Conference is committed to being deeply connectional - our Presiding Elders not only oversee the churches in their Covenant Areas, but they also pastor the pastors of these congregations.  Through weekly Class Meetings, deep bonds are formed in ways where every pastor knows they are not on this journey alone.  The purpose of these class meetings is to help the community of pastors to each grow in their walk with Christ and deepen their relationship with God.
Our Cabinet has spent the last eight weeks in discussions and pouring through the map to develop a long-term plan for our Covenant Area boundaries.  We do not take realignment lightly and do not plan to do another realignment again unless absolutely necessary due to our continued growth.

The list below shows the churches by Covenant Area and Presiding Elder.  Please note we have some affinity area Covenant Areas as well:  Large Church, Korean, Hispanic, and New Church Start.   Churches in these areas will be included in their geographical area gatherings for charge conference, mission, training, and revival, but because of the nuances of each of these specialized ministries, there is a support network developed just for them.  In these cases, you will see the church listen in two areas - one geographic and the other affinity.   Geographic and Affinity PE's will work in tandem to ensure these congregations receive the support and equipping ministry that they need.
Your Presiding Elder will be reaching out to clergy and local congregations in the next week to ensure everyone understands which Covenant Area they are now in and to answer any questions that you might have.
Our Goal is for the geographic areas to gather as covenant areas four times per year for fellowship, mission, training, and worship.   We want not only our pastors to be deeply connected but also the lay people from each of the churches to be connected.
